Show Up

Ever have one (oh who are we kidding…several!) of those days where you just aren’t motivated? Can’t get going? Have the luxury of dragging a bit, which then turns into dragging a lot?

Sure you have. We all do. What’s the solution?

Show up.

Sounds simple, and it is because it’s not a magic pill. It’s rare that showing up suddenly leads to overwhelming inspiration, powerful insights, and your best work. It does, however, plant the seeds or lay the foundation for those things in the future.

Great athletes and performers know this. And the most effective and productive business professionals get it, too. Every day will not feature your best work but showing up when others are giving up almost guarantees better results in the long run.

PS-If you need some tools to get going, check out the Pomodoro Technique, the GTD Two-Minute Rule, and Jerry Seinfeld’s (maybe) “Don’t Break the Chain”.
