True wisdom comes from questioning and being humble.
True wisdom does not come from being a know-it-all, a showoff, arrogant, or overconfident.
Asking questions shows a genuine desire to learn, to grow, and to always get better. Inquisitiveness is attractive because curiosity shows we’re never finished. Taking a genuine interest in other people and how things in the world work makes us wiser and helps us deliver better products and services.
Humility is not always fun, especially when it’s imposed on us! But being humble shows that you know you still have a long way to go, shows that you know you can still learn and get better. Humility is attractive because it demonstrates that we desire to always find new and better paths forward, regardless of whatever we have already achieved.
Too many people go into meetings, conversations, relationships, and so on, looking to show off all they know and how smart and great they are.
Instead, go in asking genuine, sincere, humble questions. Remember one of the best lines ever written from A Purpose Driven Life: “It’s not about you.” The result? A level of attractiveness and success that is unmatched.
