Persistence

What is the key to success? Getting started, getting to work, and being persistent.

So much of the work of successful people is just showing up, day after day, over and over, and committing to mundane, consistent work. True outliers are just more consistent and persistent. They keep at it until they achieve the desired outcome. They keep at it in the face of doubt, fear, anxiety, and adversity. They keep at it when everyone else quits, gives up, goes to bed, or sleeps in.

Persistence doesn’t require that we work extra hard. It doesn’t require 110%. It requires that we keep showing up, keep doing the things that lead to success. Persistence requires a determination to not quit during the messy middle. Persistence doesn’t require that we go so far above and beyond as to burn out.

If you want to be successful, you first have to get started.

If you want to guarantee success, of some kind in some way, you have to be persistent.
