New Beginnings

Do you make the most of new beginnings?

I’m not talking about the big “starting a new job” or New Year’s resolutions stuff. I’m talking about recognizing the multiple daily opportunities to stop a negative spiral, reset, start over, and get on a different and better track.

Difficulties and unexpected negative things are going to happen. The key is not to eliminate them, but to recognize the opportunity to stop the negative spiral and launch an immediate new beginning.

When we approach life’s disruptions from the Stoic perspective of focusing on what is in our control, we can quickly pivot to something that can get us back on track. When we jump on those new beginnings, we begin to change the outcomes that can quickly and permanently sour our days.

Recognize the spiral, stop the negative thinking, give yourself a new start with a fresh perspective, and get back on a path to a new and better outcome.

Honestly, even on those worst days, that’s still all we have!
