How we handle adversity reveals everything about us.
After death and taxes, the next certainty in life is that we face adversity. Challenging situations can cause our confidence to crumble. They can increase our stress and cause us to lash out. They can decrease our sleep and diminish the clarity of our decision-making.
Or…they can inspire confidence in our abilities to seize the situation and meet the challenge. They can motivate us to put our knowledge, skills, and abilities to work. They can create learning and growth opportunities to better equip us to meet future challenges. And they can make us better and stronger for having lived through, confronted, and met them.
It’s all a choice. When adversity finds us, we get to choose if we meet it head-on with courage and confidence, or if we give up. The most successful leaders and people take swift, decisive action and confront the challenge.
