Build up other people.
We are too often concerned with recognition and credit. Competition in our careers and lives can, indeed, be fierce, and human nature compels us to ensure others know when we did something good or successful.
As we get older and wiser, though, we realize that it’s unity, the shared sense of purpose and accomplishment that truly fulfills and matters.
Buck the trends. Build others up. Look for ways to help other people build their successes. Give them the credit and recognition…sometimes, even if they don’t deserve it.
No one truly loves a spotlight hog. But everyone loves a generous, cheerful giver.
